Indian Lake is a popular destination at any season–and for good reason!  The Indian Lake, PA, area is home to some of Pennsylvania’s most beautiful scenery, recreational activities, and leisure activities.  Young couples, retirees, and families will all find something to love. From skiing the slopes in the winter to water skiing in the summer, Indian Lake offers amazing activities to get your mind out of the daily grind and into the moment.

Whether it’s winter, spring, summer, and fall, there is always something to do.   Here is a sampling of the best seasonal activities you will find living in one of the most beautiful and scenic destinations in Pennsylvania.

Hit the Slopes at Indian Lake

If it’s winter, it’s time to hit the slopes!  Or at least dress like a snow bunny and hang out at the ski lodge.  Indian Lake’s location is perfect for ski lovers. There are several ski resorts within a reasonable driving distance of Indian Lake, including Hidden Valley Resort, Seven Springs Mountain Resort, and Laurel Mountain Ski Resort.

All offer group and private lessons for new skiers as well as challenging slopes and trails for more experienced skiers and snowboarders.  When you finish skiing–or for those members of your party who just want to stay inside–curl up in front of the fire at the lodge. Each resort offers a toasty ski lodge with a variety of dining options.  Many also offer a spa for people who want to skip to slopes.

These destinations also host a variety of events throughout the year and have warm-weather activity passes where you can bike, hike, swim, climb and much more! If you plan to regularly frequent the local ski resorts, check out the all-resort pass. This pass is good for Laurel Mountain, Seven Springs, and Hidden Valley.

Owning a home in Indian Lake, PA puts you in a prime location to enjoy these impressive ski resorts. Our realtors at Indian Lake Realty are experienced at finding the perfect place for each individual client they work with. No matter your budget, we can help you find something to fit your needs.

Tee Time

With spring comes a break in the low temperatures and a chance to get outside.  Golfers will find plenty to enjoy with local golf clubs. There are two onsite golf courses: Northwinds Golf Course and the new Northwinds Peninsula Golf Club – Arnold Palmer’s very first designed course. This recognizable original local course has recently been purchased by the Indian Lake Borough and is being run under new management. The improvements have been noteworthy and exciting! These two courses are located within the borough and all residents can be on the greens in minutes. This is one of the biggest perks of owning a lake house if you are a golfer.

There are quite a few other golf courses in a 30-minute radius of your home at Indian Lake, PA. Indian Lake Golf Club, Sliding Rock, Berkley Hills, Ridgeview, Richland Greens, Seven Springs, Pike Run Country Club, The Club at Middlecreek, Northfork Golf Club, Longview Golf Center, Windber Country Club, Oakbrook, the Northwinds Golf Course, and the Northwinds Peninsula Golf Club are just a few other courses within a reasonable distance.

Some of the ski resorts also offer golfing, including the Hidden Valley Resort.

ATV Time

If golf isn’t your thing, check out the Mountain Ridge All-Terrain Vehicle Site.  You will gain a totally new perspective on the surrounding area while riding on an ATV! In addition to Mountain Ridge’s ATV park, a new ordinance in the area allows ATVs and snowmobiles on the local roads. As long you abide by the local Indian Lake Borough ordinance 187, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery from the back of your quad or side by side.

Summer at the Lake Means Enjoying the Water

When spring finally gives way to summer, it is time to enjoy the full spectrum of activities that Indian Lake has to offer.  Nothing says summer like spending a day on a boat. Whether you love fishing, swimming, water skiing, or simply taking in the views from a boat dock, Indian Lake has something for everyone.

With over 2000-acres of recreational land and 20-miles of shoreline, you will not run out of things to do.  Check out Stonycreek Lake, enjoy a day of wakeboarding or playing in the inner tube behind the boat! A vacation at Indian Lake will give you the chance to really soak up its natural beauty and get away from the daily grind. Being a homeowner on the lake means you will have access to this private lake, a privilege only property owners have. Indian Lake Realty and our experienced agents can help find you the perfect place for your family. Whether you are looking for a cozy cabin on the fairway, a full-time home within the borough limits, or an elite lakefront home that will impress and entertain your friends and family, Indian Lake Realty will find it for you.

Lake Life in the Fall

September and October are usually beautiful months in the Laurel Highlands of Pennsylvania and you can reside in the middle of it all at Indian Lake. Autumn here usually comes with a handful of warm sunny days. As temperatures dip back down in the fall, swimming may lose its appeal, but your resort home at Indian Lake will not.

Weather permitting, visitors can still golf, ride ATVs, or simply take in the views.  Take a scenic drive, which will showcase the fall leaves as they change colors. Or take in a view of the lake and the foliage from one of Indian Lake’s scenic restaurants, such as the Indian Lake Lodge.  There is nothing quite so relaxing as enjoying a glass of wine while looking out at the lake.

Almost every small town near Indian Lake holds some type of unique fall event. Seven Springs has its annual Oktoberfest, while just a few miles away in Bedford there is a Fall Foliage event. Fort Ligonier has it’s historic Ligonier Days, and you can’t forget about Mountain Craft Days in Somerset, PA.

As Halloween draws near don’t forget to visit Boyers and Ridgetop Orchards to get your apples and fresh cider, get lost in the 5-acre corn maze at Faranda. Faranda also makes homemade pumpkin ice cream and has a pumpkin patch where you can pick your Halloween pumpkin.  Additionally, the borough of Indian Lake holds an annual trick or treat party for the children. It is a very popular weekend for seasonal residents to come to the lake.
